A Hated Piece of Art , 2010
Installation comprised of three parts: a sculpture, the image of a sculpture and the first draft of a story. Copies presented in a stack on the floor for viewers to take home also present the title of the piece.
A Hated Piece of Art is part literary journalism, part personal essay. Research into the history of my great grandmother is combined with the story behind the public sculpture Complications and the effects of plop-art. PDF below.

Before passing, Maggie Bjurhovd chose a poem for her own obituary in which she publicly bid
for forgiveness. In the newspaper appeared two obituaries, the woman saying her goodbye and
her relatives saying theirs. In the space between, a conversation becomes a monologue, translated
and projected on to a blank obituary.
